Kawai (川合, Kawai) used to be a teacher at the school and a member of Takashi's Group.

He wears a plain blouse and a tie. He has halflong black hair and seems to have his eyes closed a lot. He has some facial hair.

Fujimoto and Kawai were requested to join with Takashi Yamaguchi and Akira's Group on the table. Takashi told the tales of their journey from the Plane to School Camp. Fujimoto and Kawai were the ones who encourage the group to build a school here. It gave the students a purpose and duties. The teachers even provided a hour lessons every day.
Takashi, Kawai and Fujimoto observed Akira's Group members from a distance. Fujimoto was surprised that Akira has changed since coming to The Island. Kawai noticed the behaviours from other members from Akira's Group as well. Fujimoto pointed that views to Takashi.
Miina Isurugi (Fake) and Takao Sugimasa were caught vandalisming their new flag. Fujimoto and Kawai and the others watched as Akira dragged Miina away before he can do any more damge.
At night Kawai and Fujimoto followed Miina to the toilet. Someone hit Miina on the head. They agreed that Miina poses a danger to their country and they have to kill her.
Akira's Group asked around the camp if anyone has seen Miina. Akira got mad and pissed at Takashi. Luckly Kawai and Fujimoto stopped Akira before he can act. Akira and Kazuma Saji found Miina outside of camp and brought him back to their tent.
The next day Akira was tearing the camp up. Takashi tried to stop him, but Akira pushed him away. Kawai and Fujimoto listened as Akira wanted to destroy the camp. Akira suspected Takashi has something to do with Miina's disappearance. Kawai and Fujimoto intervened and tried to reason with Akira. Kawai thought Takashi is an important student of theirs. Fujimoto asked Akira to forgive Takashi. Kawai prefered they will handle the sitation themselves. But Akira revealed the real culprits are the teachers. One person carried Miina on the back while the other stood guard. Akira forced them the truth by beating them with his logs. With no other choice they accidently slipped their tongues and revealed Miina true identity. The students lost their fate on their teachers. Their acts had been blown and Kawai and Fujimoto were forced to counterattack. It turned out they want the boys to work as slaves and the girls for their pleasures. They wanted to be kings of the school. Takashi and Shirou Mariya struck back at the teachers. They gazed at everyone disappointed faces. With no other escape, Kawai and Fujimoto ran into the jungle not before they cursed everyone.
